ive read some of these arguments and what not. man you REALLY contradict yourself on ALOT of your answers. Plus it really doesn't matter what YOU believe, the crucifix was a historical event and God was IN Jesus and Jesus is God in the human form. As for atheists the only reason you guys dont believe is 'cause you had a bad childhood or you guys obviously dont care about anything or choose to believe in anything because you want to take the easy way out of things. What reward is there in that? all you do is feel sorry for yourselves and use your feelings as your own God. I dont like hearing people say theres no God because 1. you obviously havent done your researching very well. 2. you want to go against something and be your own person. when infact you can be and have your own relationship with God. 3. your ignorant on the topic and choose the easy way out like i said before. i've had arguments like this before and ive won all the time. so you cant say theres no God when you have nothing to back it up with.
Let's take your points in order:

  • Where do I contradict myself? Specifics would be nice.

  • True, it doesn't matter what I believe.

  • I can't say the crucifix wasn't a historical event. In any case, it's that "coming back to life afterward" part I seriously doubt.

  • You said, "As for atheists the only reason you guys dont believe is 'cause you had a bad childhood or you guys obviously dont care about anything or choose to believe in anything because you want to take the easy way out of things." Well, I had a fine childhood, I care very deeply about a great many things, and I think that there are few things more difficult than trying to live a moral life. I would also like to add that it is those who rely on some ancient mythology of dubious clarity for their morality who often are "taking the easy way out of things," not those of us who think carefully about our actions.

  • You ask, "What reward is there in that?" Living a moral life is its own reward.

  • I don't feel sorry for myself. And as for using my feelings as my God, what does that even mean?

  • I also don't like hearing people say that there is no god. I don't think you can prove a negative. I do like hearing people trying to prove that there is a god, however, because they are so often unintentionally entertaining.

  • As for my research, I own and have read literally hundreds of books on this subject, the vast majority of them from a religious perspective. I remain unconvinced.

  • I do not "want to go against something." You are correct that I want to be my own person, but I can do that without being "anti" anything.

  • I need you to demonstrate that I'm ignorant on this subject. I'm more than willing to be convinced.

  • I am not choosing the easy way out. It seems to me that believing in a magical being that ensures justice and will grant me eternal life if I can live up to some semi-arbitrary standard of morality is choosing the easy way out. Not that you're necessarily doing that.

  • Winning an argument doesn't prove that you're right. However, I would very much like to hear your argument against atheism.

  • You're right that I have nothing to back up a statement that there is no god. I don't say that there is no god -- I also don't say that there are no pantomime horses in the Andromeda galaxy.

  • And finally, your accusations of my ignorance would be a lot more forceful if they were grammatically correct and correctly spelled and punctuated.
