We are all no different us Christians and you Atheists
in fact we each force the same amount of crap down each others throats; trying to make each other "believe". Forcing Ideas has now become a great part of religion and also for "non-religion" (You do it as much as us)
Our world have changed for both Atheism and Christianity
You think your different just because you don't believe in any if not one god? The only actual difference is that you all tend to bring your arguments where you are large in number: The Internet While we tend to Actually "talk" to you in the real world. I see no difference there. You argue on the Internet and we argue in reality, therefore we are equals We "believe" in something you "believe" in nothing, but you still believe
good day my fellow brother -A fellow Intellectual
I disagree with much of what you say in this note. Namely:
1) You are right that many people try and "force" other people into belief, but not everyone (theist or atheist) does this. I disagree with this type of action, no matter who it comes from.
2) Atheists do tend to bring their arguments to the Internet because a) we are a minority (so it's easier to find other atheists online), and b) there are often social problems with being open about atheism in public. For example, many atheists are not open about their beliefs at work. There is nothing bad to be said about an atheist for realizing these truths.
3) There is plenty of theistic argument going on online. I'd guess that it easily outweighs atheist argument, but am not sure how we would test this.
4) Lots of atheists argue "in reality." I used to take part in big dorm-lobby discussion and walk the streets of Westwood when I was in college, presenting my side of the religion/atheism debate. I gladly discuss philosophy with preachers and missionaries when the opportunity arises.
5) For me, atheism is more of a conclusion than a belief. I'd say that's probably a big difference between most religious people and me.
